The Department of Computer Engineering is a branch that develops computer systems by theoretically studying them and produces technologies about them. The widespread use of computers today has increased the need for labour power of quality in this field. Therefore, the department has been planned to train computer engineers with the substructure required for its effective use in every field of technology, who are equipped with theoretical and practical information to the extent of being capable of contributing to the sectoral development and who have the abilities to solve problems, do research and develop communicative skills. Computer Engineering, having the widest working field in Turkey and in the world, is the profession of today and future.

Computer engineering is a driving force behind innovation and modern technologies. Computer engineering has applications across many fields, such as industry, R&D, robotics, healthcare, telecommunication, management, service etc.. Computer engineer professionals can work at these areas as systems analysts, database administrator, computer programmer and tester, software developer and designer, web designer, network architect, network security professional, etc.

Some of the courses in the Department of Computer Engineering are as follows; such professional courses as Computer Hardware, Programming Languages, Data Structures and Algorithms, Numerical Analysis, Database Systems, Logical Design, Micro Processors, Data Communication, System Analysis as well as such supplementary courses as Maths, Statistics, Physics, Economics and Business Management. Professional courses are supported by laboratory practices. Students do summer internship in the computer centres of the university and in the institutions with a computer centre.
