The Program of Biomedical Device Technology places the emphasis on training intermediary personnel who can keep up with and adapt to the innovations and developments in medical devices and the assembly and maintenance of the instruments used for the purpose of diagnosis and treatment in field of health and who can evaluate the offers of the sellers in purchasing devices in terms of cost and quality. We also aim to be a program that encourages the students to research and practice, gives them enough information and skills to meet the requirements of the sector and enables them to develop themselves. The graduates are entitled as ‘Biomedical Device Technician’.
The need for this profession increases with the increased importance attached to the health services in our country. The graduates of the program are employed at the public institutions and organizations related to the businesses producing goods/services in the sector of biomedical device technology. They mount the devices and instruments used in medicine and biologic sciences on their sites in accordance with their schemes; they maintain them, fix the malfunction, if any, and repair it. They also take care of the guarantee period of the devices. Biomedical device technicians can work at public and private hospitals, laboratories, dispensaries, factories manufacturing medical devices, and workshops maintaining and repairing the medical devices. Therefore, their working environments vary with where they work.
The syllabus of the Program of Biomedical Device Technology consists of the courses containing information that can be used in every stage of working life. For this purpose, the syllabus involves such courses on biomedical technology, medical imaging systems, basic electrics, and electronics as well as he courses describing the medical devices. Besides these courses, our students are provided with the chances for internship.
